According to The thaiger Thai Airways has postponed its plans to restore international flights. Flights to London and Paris previously announced at Airlineroute should now resume only in August, and not in July, as previously planned.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, according to Bangkok Post, said that the country will open international borders for tourists only in the III or IV quarter of 2020. Priority will be given to countries with low epidemiological risk.

Easing restrictions on entry will be the first step in rebuilding Thailand's tourism industry. Travel restrictions will be relaxed by region and province. In this regard, such phenomena as “travel bubbles” and “green lanes” appeared. They involve the conclusion of agreements with countries and between regions within the country, traveling residents of which will not need to go through 14-day quarantine. The government also intends to launch a program to stimulate domestic tourism.

The question of the advisability of extending the state of emergency, which officially ends on June 30 and, according to the Thai Constitution, cannot be extended without the participation of Parliament, is still open. Bangkok Post reports that Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam believes that the decree of state of emergency may be extended. The need for extension is associated with the risk of a second wave of the epidemic.

The emergency decree allows you to quickly and effectively coordinate actions to prevent the spread of the virus, in contrast to the Law on Combating Infectious Diseases, which will be applied when the emergency regime ceases to operate. In particular, the emergency law allows for the transportation of infected persons to the state quarantine center in Sattahip County without delay.

Over the past 2 weeks, all new registered cases of Covid-19 in Thailand have been associated with people returning to the country from abroad. The discovery of such a large number of imported cases undoubtedly reinforces the government’s fears about opening borders for international travel.

Recall that during the epidemic in Samui, only 7 cases were diagnosed, none of which turned out to be fatal. And in the province of Surrat Thani, of which Koh Samui is a part, by June 10, 2020, there have been no new infections for 61 days.
